At 5 weeks pregnant, baby is the size of an apple seed. Yep, your embryo is now measurable—though at week five of pregnancy, it's a wee inches from crown to rump (a.k.a. head to bum)—and baby's gearing up for much more growth. In fact, in the next week, he or she will almost double in size. The embryo looks like a tadpole, and it's the size of a sesame seed. It's now made of three layers of cells folded over on each other. The neural tube forms. It grows out of the top layer and develops into your baby's brain, spinal cord, nerves, and backbone.
